dear future husband,

you need to know. permanent video games will not be tolerated in our household and with our children. [rented occasionally on holidays or whatever..sure. i guess i can accept that. but no war games. or stupid games.] so i sure hope you don't like them very much. and you will not be one of those crazy gamer obsessed guys, ok?
also...tv? yeah. not my favorite. we will have one. and it will be in the depths of the house to be used occasionally. not the front room. and we will cuddle while watching beautiful movies together. and conference. and maybe tv once in awhile....yeah, ok. so i was lying with that last part. tv is only allowed if it's nova. deal? otherwise, classically wonderful movies only.
i'm glad that's settled. i feel much better now.

love, the snow white to match your prince charming self. because i think you're a stud, even if no one else does. i will.

am i..?

-am i a sinner for not liking byu sundays all the time..as in almost never?
-am i a sinner for preferring lazy sundays at home..summer sunday evenings?
-am i a sinner for being happy and relieved that the semester will soon be over..which means many things...?
-am i a sinner for just wanting to lay in a sunbeam and sleep?
-am i a sinner for getting indescribable pleasure out of watching my mountains and being in awe of their stunning beauty?
-am i a sinner for not wanting to live the byu dream and get married anytime soon and instead wanting to go at least somewhere internationally on my own before being married?

i sure hope not. because all of the above, are oh, so very true.
and if so, then i'm definitely well on my way towards that one place..

you're not laughing when you're the one

"well, we're all studs if we get to tell the whole story!!"

all time low

my battery power has reached an all time low...never before have i let it reach such depths. good thing brother "lets" me use his power cord.. ;)
emily: "now i kind of want to let it run and see how low it'll go. ever noticed how the time remaining jumps down dramatically with every second once you get near the bottom? i wonder how long it would let me live before dying...?"
stevie: "oh, when there's around two minutes left."
emily: "i'm glad you know that..."

hahahahahaha.

souviens-toi

i forgot how much i love the new world symphony.
dvorak is a genius.
so much so, that his melody was borrowed
for use as a french children's hymn.
{which happens to be stunningly beautiful.}
it strikes you, but in a gentle way.
compare--
the following melody [oboe solo...mmm..] :

with this piece of music [click to enlarge] :
doesn't it just sing a sweet lullaby to your heart?
souviens-toi, mon enfant.
[remember, my child.]

sometimes

sometimes, it's as simple as a song.
words and music, saying things that no one else could say.
no matter how much you love them,
and try to accept the love and words they send.
in that moment, you just can't.
sometimes, it's only in the song.

isn't it funny..

isn't it funny, that even when you do have a major...
[the previously seeming end-all to figuring everything out.]
you're still just as clueless about other things in life.
it never ends.

prejudice and pride

it's official. i can no longer say i haven't seen the 5 hour pride&prejudice..we watched it last night, and i loved it, of course. :) i prefer the newer one with keira knightley, i admit. it's so much more aesthetically pleasing, and the music is beautiful. and you get the same story...without five hours of sitting on a couch..watching it requires quite an event. good thing i don't watch these long movies every weekend..i'd die. but i did love it, nonetheless. colin firth is a stud.
p.s. the dresses of this time period--gorgeous! i wish society was still that classy..

labels

courtney just called me a food-hater. and a music snob.
ok, so maybe she's just a little bit, sorta, kinda, right.
what can i say?

REMEMBER

levels of pure joy in my life & time spent experiencing music in any given day are directly proportional to one another. i need to remember that..music quite often makes my day. when that one song comes on? you know. the one you love, but haven't listened to in awhile. but it comes on and surprises you and reawakens the love? BEST.<3

p.s. helaman 5, anyone?

fascination

by chance, tonight i watched a boy i don't even know open his mission call. and while waiting for him to open it, heard of another friend who opened his call tonight.

i don't even know him. but.
those final moments of anticipation while trying to get ahold of family members.
the look on his face. i've seen that look before.
ripping open the envelope, because he just can't stand it anymore.
those ten little words:
you are assigned to labor in the  _____, _______ mission.
ten words completely defining every moment of the next two years of his life.
every missionary has experienced it.

where will it be? somewhere exotic? somewhere average?
will it be one of those missions that everyone oohs and ahhs at, just because it's a place they've rarely heard of--except maybe on the news?
will it be somewhere everyone's heard of, and everyone's been--but have yet to consider the people who live there?

the first moments, where he sees that it says 'dear elder so-and-so,' but he skips straight past all the formal lingo, no matter how hard he tries not to let his eyes veer off. they deceived him, and away they go to find those magic words.
where? check. breathe.
language? check. breathe.
when? check. breathe.
so much running through his head. i saw it in his face, though most don't notice.
fear. anticipation. excitement. complete unknown.
no possible idea of what to expect, until he himself goes forth on this journey for himself.
millions of faithful members around the world have entered the field. throughout his life, he's probably heard millions of mission stories of good and bad, and how great those two years may have been.
though millions have gone, however, they go on a very individual basis. as soon as he steps foot into that mtc, he's on his own.
completely.
it's him, the lord, and his companion. let's hope they all get along.

that initial reaction. fascinating.

[i obviously have not served a full-time mission myself, as of yet. and who knows if i will serve as a single sister.
that's a decision to be made when the time comes. however, i have watched many go out. and i know that face well. very well, indeed.]
