what a difference a year makes: pa pa pa, 2011.

2011 was a year of enormous changes for me--but the very best kinds of changes.
let's take a little look, shall we?

january: i spent a lot of time pretending january wasn't as grim and grey and cold as it really always is. and successfully made it through with a lot of looking ahead towards the future and looking at the bright things in life. we celebrated sherry's birthday and i played rosa for the first time in a long time. i went running for the first time in ages, and actually kind of enjoyed it. (that phase didn't last very long. ha.)  oh, and the process of realizing how much i love my major had only just begun. i finished the month off with a definition of my future hubby. cheesy: check.

february: i realized how close romania was coming. and realized the adjustments that were necessary for that to happen, including a distancing from everything and everyone i know here in america. claira and i went to the temple every week throughout the semester and claira got engaged. my life was kind of solitary, and in a state of limbo and personal realizations. which also means that sometimes it was kind of lonely. i think i wrote in my journal the most consistently in this month than any other in my life (romania excluded). stevie and i started our weekly brunches.

march: the countdowns to romania became more intense. laurs and i saw jrad in concert. anatomy took over my life. william burnett came home. steve and i made green eggs and ham - a more memorable brunch of ours. aha. i became very ready to escape the country. stevie won best brother ever award for celebrating good grades with me with oreo shakes. and after a lot of solitude and mostly just spending time with myself or my roommates, i became enormously, more than before, comfortable with myself. i found a lot of scripture chains because i stopped paying much attention in sunday school or relief society on certain weeks. (i had issues with the teachers. sorry. true.)

april: laurs got engaged! and i relived our entire friendship/sisterhood up to that point. i survived anatomy (miracle). the bonding of my romania group began. doug&sherry graduated. i went wedding dress shopping with laur and her family and watched her find the dress of her dreams. and in the process i learned a lesson about how much i love her family and how much they are a part of me. general conference = win. i decided what i want my future home to be like. i started to get scared about going to romania. the 2-week french chaos began.

may: i met the kenzer. i finished an entire french class in 2 weeks, and was practically fluent by the end of it, then i went to romania, so much for the french. said my goodbyes to america. i met romania, and fell in love. i met my babies, and fell even more in love. i decided i could stay in europe forever, though other times questioned my sanity. oh, and i turned 20 on the other side of the world.

june: i legitimately fell in love with each one of my kids. i adored going to the hospital. saw voltaj at the cultural palace. had many adventures exploring iasi. and the mid-semester retreat at the end of the month came right when i needed a break from section 2, the politics, and everything. i went on a romanian train for the first time, and visited brasov and bucuresti. did you know romania is amazingly beautiful? oh, and saw the symphony in buc. as well as went to the romanian version of l'arc de triomphe.

july: realized our days in romania were numbered - but remained in denial anyway. went to venice for a branch picnic, romanian style--which means we went to a lake they gave the name venice (venitia). celebrated the 4th of july in romania, the romanians loved it. learned to make romanian food. (sarmale, mamaliga, etc.) andrada taught us how to make tort cu visine.  oh, and suc de portocale rosii? divine. mostly, just a continuation of the romanian dream and denial that i ever would have to leave my babes behind. heart broke when i found out one of them was near death.

august: visited romanian monasteries while having the worst headache/weird sickness of my life. said goodbye to the branch, during which the onslaught of aforementioned headache came at the worst possible moments. said a final goodbye to teo and mario. said goodbye to iasi. said goodbye to my home away from home and was extremely conflicted about where to call home. life in america felt surreal and so foreign compared to romania. romania came so naturally. said hello to family and friends. watched best friend have her happily ever after wedding: happiest day ever+complete perfection+pure love. visited the mountains during sunflower season. eventually came to like america again, though it is still debatable. missed my babes and the romanian routine like it was my day job.

september: started a new semester. started working for catering, quit wait staff and moved just to special events because i hated it. struggled with french - hoped it would ease up by the end of the semester, but it never really ended. felt in transition/limbo. like i didn't really fit in any particular place. didn't know french, didn't know english, didn't know romanian anymore. met new roommate lauren: love her. tried to re-instate our sibling dates. failed. worked football games. found out my boy didn't die, but was alive and well. miss romania, as usual.  reunited with my freshman roomies/neighbors.

october: started to feel more normal again. and finally found tranquility, peace, and happiness. watched grandma speak at the payson temple groundbreaking. revisiting east canyon with laurs during general conference weekend. worked more football games. laursy came to visit p-town, tried and fell in love with her first jdawg. got discouraged about french, thinking maybe it really was going to be hard for the rest of always. fell deep in my major and actually made friends within. carved a pumpkin for almost the first time.

november: lauren rose and i bonded some more--best roommate ever. we understand each other. realized i had kind of moved on from romania, though it still and will always hold a large part of my heart. but, i moved on. we all did. we had to. looked back at romania with fondness and understanding, rather than just heartache. fell in love with my family, as usual. these are my people. finished with catering forever, surprisingly bittersweet. had a whole bunch of 'best days ever.' said goodbye to hermana mckay. rekindled my love for ygm (aced every online quiz steve threw at me). took a spontaneous trip to salt lake just to see my soul sister. got a big-girl job.

december: started new job. survived and aced finals. hated construction outside my door. reunited with freshman friends again. twinkle lights in the bedroom. learned to knit. realized i wore a dress or skirt almost every day of the semester. (literally.) worked a lot. got an email filled with romania that made me cry. started to finally cope/be allies with french again. (we're not friends yet. just allies.) papa became a high priest. christmas spirit. la la gave me a christmas gift i'll never forget: a perfect (double) description of where my heart resides. tianne's wedding. steve got engaged! thus filling the nevers sister-in-law circle.

i must admit, 2011 was quite good to me.
here's to 2012!
it probably won't compare. but hey, you never know what the future has up its sleeve.
:)

purpose.

"If you lose your purpose, it's like you're broken...I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason."

revenez à moi. veniți în apoi, hai la mine.

for V, M, G, A, C, Du, I, Da, F, & AM.
as well as mr.A, Co, Io, and all the others.
but most especially, those first 10: otherwise known as mine.

as i drove to work this morning, on that worn path between salt lake and provo, at some unknown place in the midst of utah county, suddenly it felt as though it was one of my summer mornings, not the reality of a dark and cold winter morning. i think the winter sun rises a little bit slower than the summer sun, wary of the nip in the day ahead. in a summer morning, the sun is shameless. blasting the world with light before it has even risen above the horizon line. this morning, though, i was taken to a romanian summer morning.

feeling tired, sleepy. muscles aching. i step outside our sometimes trusty elevator and then down the few stairs towards the glass and metal door. through the glass, i see people already starting their day, bustling about, or not. varying with the person. we pass by the phone store, down the stone steps that are no longer smooth tiles, but look like they've had heavy bowling balls dropped on them. walk through the same broken and uneven tiles of sorts in front of the justice building. don't get hit by cars coming in and parking. pass the banks, the bus stop. and then comes st.nicholae's church leading to the cultural palace. we cross the parking lot, and head towards the sidewalk that curves with the anastasia panu road. past construction workers (they just loved us) towards a sign for hair color straight across from pizzeria domneasca. wait to cross the street. sometimes they're nice, sometimes you just run for it, knowing that if you go, they will stop. (romanian brakes are much more magical than american ones, i think.) turn left past the tantalizing aroma of pastries and pizza in the morning air. turn and head down a mostly passed-by sidewalk, of sorts towards a staircase - both of which are mostly hidden by a tree, and seems to blend into the transition between tree and pizzeria. go down the steep curving stairs, past the morning shipment of beer bottles and employees not yet working, but smoking at the table in the far corner - the one closest to our staircase. the relatively small staircase releases itself on a dirt road. straight on through the dirt, or mud. on the foot wide concrete curb marking a border between the road and the fences of homes, when there is one. cross a dirt-road intersection and look right towards the church's vila that you only visited a few times before moving locations. pass the big building under construction for who knows how long. and then comes the paved road. strada sfântul andrei. one way. where we cross is on the other side of a curve in the road, a curve taken at swift speeds by romanian drivers. when the limited opportunity arises, dart across the road to the chain link fence that stands, like all the other fences, around 6ft tall.
open the latch and enter through the gate. pass tree upon tree bursting with ripening cherries, a sour appreciated the most by mr.A. take the pathway that curves to the right, past a mini swingset and around to the side/back of section 2. as we enter into the designated bambi outdoor playplace, we instantly find if the kids are outside or not--almost always, they are. if not, we know why instantly. we can almost always accurately predict. amanda and kylee's kids. "uh-maaan-duh. ahh mannn dah! ah manda! manda manda!" that is the sound of morning. as we rushed our way through this whole path, we slow slightly, giving smiles and "dimineața! revenim!" to the kiddies. amanda calling them by name. then we fight past them and through the next gate, careful to close it behind us. past the cars. up the ramp and in. down the hall on the left, and in the room with a box filled with plastic balls, our room was on the left. the isolation room for daycare was our changing station. out with the world, in with the scrubs. before going in, i sneak a peek to the right. the mickey mouse place. my place. are my kids out yet? usually, i just see Co on the swing. and i am set at ease. seeing her on the swing is the equivalent of hearing "ahh-maaan-dah!" as we arrive. this is how we know that everything is as it should be.
meet with the other set of girls. scrubs on. review of how everyone in the group is feeling. who is or isn't there, and why. who's sick right now? (there's always someone.) we start with a prayer together to send us off before separating to find our kids--and some days, that's all that gets us through. sanitizer in pocket. water bottle in hand. let it begin. melissa goes straight out to the mm place - most her kids are already out. only a few of mine get to go outside, so i start by sneaking upstairs to survey the situation. pass teo's office on the way. the doctor in green in the first room at the top of the stairs. at the end of the hall, take a left. down that hall, go through the door, and keep going straight. straight on, and through the window i see signs of life, sometimes. sometimes the 3 are already outside. if not, they're nearly on their way. or just finishing up playing with blocks. or singing. brace yourself, and open the door. turn around and close it behind you, for romanian doors don't just shut behind you as american ones do. they're not heavy enough. it gives time to breathe before the onslaught of three hours of beautiful chaos. and so it begins.
it's always a debate whether V or M will get to me first. often it just depends on which woman is working that day. i reach up and put my water bottle far out of child's-reach on top of the cabinet. sometimes my guy G comes up to me right away with the girls, sometimes not. give kisses. lift them up and place them on my hip. and of course: "bună dimineața, [insert kidlet name here]!" "dimineața!" smiles, hugs, kisses. once the V and M are satisfied, if they are inside when i arrive, then i keep moving. i made a goal at the start to make sure i spent individual time with each one of my kids every single day. a goal i refused to not meet, especially considering my limited time in the room because of working with mr.A for the last 45-60 minutes. tickle cuddle bug A's tummy and get the most satifying giggle you'll ever hear. i wrap my arm around A to do so, letting him latch onto me with arms and legs since he can't see me. slowly make my way to C, Du, and I. giving their muscles squeezes and wishing them good morning. when V, M, and G are outside from the start, i can skip straight to them. and then i go back to the back room, to my sweet F, Da, and AM--three of the sweetest souls on this planet earth. usually they're sweating bullets, so i just join them. we have sweat parties, essentially. i take turns with who i visit first of the three, but regardless of who i'm with, the other two keep watchful eye on me. and if they can't adjust their bodies to see me, i can tell they're listening. so i talk to them. i pay them compliments. and then, i just sing. i think that's their favorite part. often, AM will join in. especially with certain songs. and they all just smile and smile. giggle as i tickle them, and massage their locked up muscles. before i know it, time is escaping me, disappearing even. when i get too carried away, i stay with them until 10 or 10:30 when the three (V, M, G) come back inside. other times, i spend till 9:30, or 9:45, revisit Du, C, and I--making sure they're content, of course--and then outside i go to see mes petits. outside (everywhere, really) i can always expect chaos. anything less, is a fun surprise. the days i realized my kids had begun to recognize me and were getting excited to see me each morning were some of the happiest of my life. true love.

and this is where i found myself, somewhere in the midst of utah county on i15, crying. tears streaming down my face with the thought of their little arms around me. feeling V's jaws against my cheek as she gave me kisses. feeling the fleshy and adorable cheeks of M when she gives me kisses. G finally letting me hug him. happiness. true, unfaltering happiness. and then the realization that if i ever could experience them running to me and making sounds of joy upon my arrival and sitting down to sing and play with them, i'd burst into tears outright. unable to contain the astonishment and joy. as roslyn once said,
"Today I missed my babies so much. Like uncontrollably miss them.
They occupy perhaps the largest space in my heart.
Maybe more than my family or friends.
Because they only loved. And never judged.
And neither of us made demands or had conditions
about what we would do for each other.
They were just pure little bundles of insanity and joy."
someday, my littles. someday. you will have all you deserve and more, for all the love you've given without condition or judgment. just love in its purest form.

first of all, ew.

"are you near a computer? can you look something up for me?"
[if steve had a nickel for every time i've said this, i'd be bankrupt.]
"listen to this email."
"can you read this to see if it makes sense?"
"i had to get up at like 6 this morning!"
"i hate trying on clothes. do i look like a doily?"

"how's your mom?"
"that is so true."
"i can't believe i ate all that."

SO GOOD, RIGHT?
ahahahahahah. it's almost sad how accurate this is.
pretty sure i've said almost all these things.
win?

sisters, sisters.

when i was little, i wasn't always so excited about having two brothers.
[let's be real. sometimes they were traumatizingly, plain, old-fashioned mean. i'm over it.]
i always was dying to have sisters.
well, i eventually got over it, and they started being nicer.
win, win, eh?

well. now that i'm over it, i've a special little announcement to make.
(you should probably sit down, so you don't die of shock.)
but guess what?
my number of sisters-in-love is about to double.
why, you ask?
steven & kenzie
are ENGAGED!
(finally.)

everyone's been just a leeettle bit overexcited around these parts, as you may imagine.
but hey, who would have guessed stevie of all people would get married before the age of 30 or 40?
right? i know.

regardless, here they are.
and they're super perfect for each other.
i don't even know how else to say it.
it's almost disgusting. (but cute anyway.)
and just like this time, i called it loooong ago.
like, this magleby's day. also known as the day i met her.
best.

so the point of all this is that i now have a new sister-in-love joining sherry sunshine.
almost filling the circle of sistas.
(minus if whoever i marry has sisters. details.)

you know what else this means? you get upgraded from a label of your own to a combined one.
big day.

welcome to the crazy fam bam, kenzer!
we're fun.
steven&kenzie nevers
best christmas gift ever.

besties are the best gift.

yesterday la la and me had our own little gift exchange.
in n out, talking about how we're poor, gift exchange, watching the grinch, chatting. etc.
best.

a few weeks ago, roommate lauren and i went to color me mine spontaneously.
reasoning we found? CHRISTMAS!
so we made gifts.
see?
and i didn't take any photos of it after it was fired. oops.

i think i've concluded that everyone needs a besty going into graphic design.
result? cutest christmas gifts ever.
see?
adorable, right?
she knows me well.

i sure love her. and christmas. and being together.
you da best, shrub a dub.

when an old elder becomes a high priest,

we take family photos. how cute.

regular reunions.

member this little occasion? well, awhile back amy suggested having another little reunion. this time, the occasion was christmas and finals relief. therefore, during reading days, we congregated at claira's (husband=no roommates that we'd be bothering) for a christmasy celebration with waffles, hot cocoa, and of course a lovely little gift exchange! woooot. thus, we drew names, and came for celebration! but mostly for the laughs together. we're good at that.

love these girls.

shiiiine!

dear future hubby,
we will be the owners of that one house around this time of year. you know the kind. the one that almost explodes it's so bright with lights. and i'm with you: no too-obnoxious flashing lights. we wouldn't want to be the house that looks like it's suffering from a seizure. we'll laugh at those. at our own home, we'll just have an eruption of brightness, especially as the lights glow against the snow. and on the inside: warm light, spiced scents, and holiday music. plus joy, duh.
with me? good. can't wait.
ems.

p.s. every night of the christmas season, we'll dedicate time to turn all the lights out except for the twinkling ones on the tree and other christmas lights. and then as a family we'll lay there and stare with soothing carols in the background. family cuddle time. and let's be real. no one can resist staring at those lights. especially the outline of them on the ceiling or walls. captivating. therefore, this is a requirement of the christmas season. you understand.

productivity - christmas break style.

thanks to youtube, i now know how to knit!
cool, huh?
i'm being productive. while watching mash.
win.

happy holidays!

dinner and a movie - for as long as we both shall live.

need i say more?

a few suggestions.

how best to survive finals week:

- don't get enough sleep, but make sure it doesn't catch up with you until the week is almost over. check.
- study for your french civ class with someone who enjoys/understands politics seeing as you prefer the artistic side of history. it really does help and make all the difference when you combine your strengths and weaknesses. check.
- finally meet a bloggy friend in person! and try not to be awkward. too late. i'm always awkward. and i was focused on an exam. triple awkward. oops. also, note to self: don't have hair down during an exam--especially one that involves writing. good things never happen. in other news, you are adorable, emily. (and congrats on your mission call!!) check checkity check.
- reconcile your differences with french, and agree that maybe it isn't so bad all the time. mostly, be grateful that it really is finally starting to feel natural again. good thing the semester's over. ha. not. check, nonetheless. [more later? yep. as usual.]
- spend the entire week avoiding cyberspace/people in general. mostly to avoid the people who are done with finals. it kind of makes me jealous. but mostly just made me irritated because everyone thinks they're so cool. hence, avoidance. check.
-  be grateful for grandparents that are so nice to you and do great things like return alice to mint condition. she was having some engine troubles, but all is well once more. check.
- play the 'how many finals do people have left?/what will they be like' game with lauren rose. people are so readable during finals week. we're pros and were so spot on. the wilk is best, right during lunchtime on the middle day of finals week when some people are finishing, and others have a ways to go. maybe you should, between the two of you, eat a brownie, rice crispy treat, part of a calzone, breadsticks, some mozzarella sticks, and a fruit tart for lauren. it's fine. it's finals. we do what we want. (always. like finals is any different.) check. [i hope take-home-test-bagel boy did well and figured things out.]
- an offer of free food is always an adequate excuse to put off studying. check again.
-  the night before your last final/all day work shift, spend an hour and a half on the phone with your daddio. check.
- gchat with stevie. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- for lunchbreak from work, go home and make waffles, just because you can. check.
- while at work, receive texts from chipmunk la la. she's hilarious. check.
- spend all day getting paid to study while at work when things are slow. check.
- become an ace at your job. check.
- go home to delectable brownies made by roommate lauren rose. check. she da best.
- memorize diacritics like a whiz as the last thing, and ace your final test of fall 2011. check.
- you know how whenever you come out of the testing center, it feels like you should call or text someone because it's like you've been there forever, and just cause - especially when it marks the very end? well, try not to be too sad when you realize at that moment that you don't really have anyone to call. and when you do call someone, they're distracted. better luck next time, folks. check.

notice all the checks? that means i'm done. it also means i don't even know what to do. and cyber world isn't that appealing anyway. check.
best part? my to do list is officially completely all crossed out except for one small grouping: my list of things to talk to laurs about when i fiiiinaaaallllyyyyy get to see her again. (tomorrow!) yes, laur. i really did start writing things down. the list was getting too big! too big list = it's been wayyy too long. not ok.

time to go waste my brain cells by watching vampire diaries. or reading a book. or ygm! i haven't seen it in so long.
or calling rossles back. yep. we'll start with that. someone in this world loves me.

check.

two-fer.

did you know you can get 2 pizzas for the price of one at domino's on tuesdays?
yes, that's the equivalent of almost 4 pizzas at little caesar's. but they're better than little ceasar's, so it's ok.

did you know you can order pizza online? and you can WATCH IT BE MADE?
this is why i have the best roommate ever. she teaches me things like this.

you can understand why matthew was our favorite last night - our pizza maker.

happy finals, world.
too bad most people are done, and i still have 3 left.
3 that are easier than the other 2 i already took, yes.
but 3 is still 3, you know.
dangit.
welp, at least i had the most delicious pizza to ease the blow. (chicken bacon ranch&bbq chicken. mmmm.)
happy happy day. i don't count in days like i used to as a youngin' in college.
i count by finals. growing up is rough.

hopefully you don't hear from me till i'm done. which is likely, because i'm a grown up these days. (this was a joke.) but i have become really bad at using the usual internet distractions because i feel the necessity to study hardish. and there's just not time for them on top of everything else. and because maybe i actually enjoy some of my studying? say whaa? (yeah, that just happened.)

if ordering pizzas online and enjoying life and christmas lights in my bedroom window means being a grown up, then i think we're ok. yessssss.

(don't worry. i should probably mention i didn't eat both pizzas myself. there are lots of leftovers, and lauren and eric helped me eat.)
p.s. after buying nerf guns for eric's nephews, lauren bought krispy kremes (the hot&ready light was on. that means stopping is necessary. and she brought some home to me! best roommate ever.)

and guess what else?? i talked to soul sister on the phone last night! i was beginning to forget what her voice sounds like. almost. so that was fun. and in a few days, i get to see her as chipmunk cheeks! don't worry, i'm taking ice cream to ease the blow of loosing wisdom (teeth). aha. i'm so funny.

peace out, girl scout!

wake up from the frozen sea.

“I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us. If the book we’re reading doesn’t wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books, and the kind of books that make us happy are the kind we could write ourselves if we had to. But we need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. That is my belief.”
– Franz Kafka

for a day in which all i want to do is give up (before 9:30am)

    (and detest all things french.
    except the bakeries.)

“A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. You didn’t have to struggle to make your face different than anyone else’s on earth. It just is. You are unique because you were created that way. Look at little children in kindergarten. They’re all different without trying to be. As long as they’re unselfconsciously being themselves, they can’t help but shine. It’s only later, when children are taught to compete, to strive to be better than others, that their natural light becomes distorted.”
    Marianne Williamson

    (i'm just a different flower. that's all.
i used to think i was a french flower.
    now, i'm not so sure.
somewhere else in europe i think is more accurate.
i just haven't discovered where yet.
    [subliminal messages.]
    stay posted.)

    Wednesday, December 7, 2011

holy moley, me-oh-my. you're the apple of my eye.

i can't stop listening to this. a little indie, a little hippie, a little love. (sometimes i hear a banjo in the background. banjos make everything better, huh dougy?) from the whistling to the words? prime. any song that begins with whistling followed by, "alabama, arkansas, i do love my ma and pa," as well as the phrase, "holy moley," is bound to be a good one. and this is. you're gonna like what you hear. i guarantee it.
(speaking of excellent songs that begin with whistling, try this one on for size. i adore it. [thanks, claira gale wilson.] it's even better when listened to on a train while riding through romanian sunflower fields at sunset, but it's like whatever. being normal and sitting in your bedroom anywhere in the world is fine too.)
"we'll laugh until we think we'll die.
    barefoot on a summer night,
nothing new is sweeter than with you.
    ...
    home. let me come home.
home is wherever i'm with you."

such an interesting concept, home. isn't it?
home is an idea, not a place.

this is what love is. finding home.

    work and love.

    my dear future hubster,

our children will learn two things, above all.
they will learn to love, and they will learn to work.
(we will be teaching them. we will start young.)
i think from that knowledge, all else falls into place.
they'll learn how to clean, and though they'll bicker (as all siblings do),
they'll love one another and defend one another to the death.
and from this they will learn their important role on earth.
from the cleaning and working, they'll learn character.
as well as what it means to have a good worth ethic.
when work and love are combined? this is charity.
"when you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life."
rumor is my grandpa said that. so they'll learn to love work.
and even if they don't, they'll love the character it gives.
(even if full/any appreciation doesn't come until they move out
and meet/live with people who were never taught such things.)
and so, hubster, our goal is this:
be classy, work hard, love always.

    mon amour à jamais, ems.

    exclamation point technique

i got my first letter back from hermana mckay today.
    life is now complete.
i love letters that say just the right thing.
    happy friday!

(and yes, "exclamation point technique" is a direct quote from her letter. i love jenny.)

    seasoned sights.

    (our bedroom lights. !!!!!!)

("and it's happy to see yuhh!" my eggs made a smiley. cool, huh??)

    (december=christmas=!!!!!)

    joyeux décembre, mes amis.
    (cliquez ici. merci, emily.)

    confessions.

. i walk outside my apartment and don't know how to get to campus. it's awkward. mostly for the people that get to watch me try and figure out if we're allowed through one side or not. or do we have to go all the way around? tonight was all the way around. member how i love construction?
. i sent 4 texts to laurs this morning before 9am. all of which were completely without any important content, all of which went un-replied to. should i take that as a sign? baha.
. there's a piece of cheesecake from one of my visiting teachers that has been sitting on my counter. and has mysteriously been disappearing, just a little a time. and i haven't been eating it. humorous? always.
. madame thompson will always intimidate/kind of scare me.
. o holy night (my favorite christmas song, perhaps.) is more beautiful in its language of origin: french. minuit chrétiens. more on this later, perhaps. i might have cried while reading the words while someone sang it today. it's fine.
. the amount of enjoyment roommate lauren and i get out of our twinkle lights in our bedroom? would be embarrassing if we were to get embarrassed by such a thing. are we? heck no.
. i feel super official working in an office and having access privileges and all that. confession. nerd alert. just like you hear people talking about. and now i'm part of one. i like it. a lot. obviously.
. sometimes, by the time i spend 30 minutes walking home from work in the dark, aka from the other side of the world back home, after long days (every day), the only energy i have left for dinner is to eat chocolate covered strawberries and part of a brownie from my visiting teaching companion. maybe i'll make something else later.
. have you ever had scrambled eggs with parmesan cheese? oh, hello. only the most delicious thing in the world!
. since i don't get off work/back home again until after dark, it makes it feel like the day is over by the time i get home. so i have a hard time mustering up motivation to do anything productive once i get home. i eat, do nothing productive, and go to bed. i need to fix this.
. i have been abnormally outrageously tired this week. multiple factors? yes.
. i might possibly fail my finals. also fine. oh wait. or maybe i should just spend ALL DAY LONG in the library on saturday, the day off work? oh, right. probably that one.you know: long partner paper in french, exams looming, readings, presentations. don't you just love school pre-finals? oh wait. actually, lies. i really like classes right now because everything is finishing up and you have been around your professors long enough that the just seem nice as can be. usually. today i decided one of my professors just seems like a friendly within-ward father-figure type guy - you know the ones? the super nice ones? yeah. i like it.
. i got an email from rossles today that almost made me cry. we miss our babes. a tangible kind of missing pain.
. i really do appreciate those that gave me opinions on these photos. i really do appreciate it. cause i really do have decision-making issues. and if you haven't, well--go do it, little ones!
. i, like everyone else on campus, have come to the two important conclusions: 1. i'm sooooo ready for this semester to be over. 2. the construction can end and go die. asap.

aren't you glad you made it through reading all that?
don't answer that. i need a life. but, oh wait. i don't have time for one. oops.
and i thought i was busy before.
fail, emily. you thought wrong. good joke, life.
i'mma gonna make myself some scrambled eggs.
    homework? perhaps. (not likely.)
    and go to bed.
yes it's 7:30 right now. embrace it.
