fillings

you know it really is going to be a long day when even your lunch break,
after work before going to class,
seems to be the slowest-moving thing in the world.

this is what happens when your day starts with the news that your no-cavities-ever streak has ended.
(that's right, i'm totally blaming the cavity. singular. yep. one little teensy cavity.)
dang, gena.
happens to the best of us.
right?

ok, so i probably deserve it after almost 21 years without.
but still.
i object on principle.

here's to the golden ones.

tonight lauren rose and i were social and went to our ward devotional thing. oh hellloooooo. SUPER fun. (even better because there was a complete collection of cakes. i think my wedding cake is going to be from costco someday.) and we left with not one, but TWO invitations to movie nights next weekend. invited by BOYS, no less! (actually there were three. even bigger deal. but we couldn't make it to the one tonight, so it only half counts.) don't worry, they're on different days so we can go to both. we got a little carried away and excited talking to people tonight. confession. it happened. look at us go.

i've been realizing in the past few weeks how completely adorable the girls in my ward are. like, hello. they're amazing. like really amazing. they're adorable. and so so nice and sweet. and friendly. i don't know how i didn't notice it this much before, but lately i just can't get over it.

there was a guy tonight wearing an orange and blue diagonal striped tie. with a few more neutral colors in between. but they were the exact colors of blue and orange together that i loooove. cause i really love blue and orange together in the right tones. and i never got a chance to tell him because another conversation started! bummer. i love those colors when they're properly balanced. most people don't. i commend him for it.

i announced something to my family this weekend. something (SUPER) exciting. i'll announce it to blog world someday soon when i get around to it or something. ha. ha. so, don't hold your breath yet.

i've used more minutes on my phone this weekend and in the past week than is even humanly possible. most of which are with my momma. judge me. weekends = free minutes. BEST. so maybe i've abused the free nights and weekends this week. that's what they're there for, right? of course right.

my family is hilarious. the combination of my brothers and sister-in-love and almost sister-in-love? and on top of it kenzer is seriously a hilarious and perfect addition. i just can't get enough. doug's defenestration. hilarious. the end.

julie beck is coming to my stake! cool, huh?

tonight for dinner lauren rose fed me and her brother and his roommate (best roommate ever). we had ranch chicken  (OH MY GOSH. SO. GOOD.) and a 'fruit medley.' and broccoli that i didn't eat, of course. and then i spritzed some lemon on the chicken? MOST DELICIOUS THING EVER! i'm obsessed. and yesterday at walmart i splurged and bought v8 fruit juice. very berry. mmmmmmmmmm. i'm obsessed with juice too. it's a necessity.

i went grocery shopping and actually have food again!!

i have a date with soul sista next saturday. :) :) :) :)

roommate christine went to a farewell today and brought a rice krispy treats home for lauren (her favorite) and mint brownies home for me (my favorite). best, right?? LOVE.

i've laughed more today and yesterday than i have in i don't even know how long. like, i've been laughing suuuuper hard multiple times an hour. at least every few hours. give or take. it's out of control. BAHA. life is just too funny for me to handle. living with lauren rose is just too funny for me to handle.

i'm kind of out of control tonight. like, 5 minutes ago i was on my floor laughing. 2 minutes ago i was sitting on my bed doing the 'laugh so hard it's silent and sounds like you have the black lung.' OUT OF CONTROL. even lauren rose says so. in the past 30 minutes alone, i've displayed every one of these laughs (you should probably skip to 45 seconds).

i ate the rest of my last primola today that's been in my fridge for months. also known as the rest of my last bar of chocolate from romania. sad, huh? i know. super sad.

obviously this just means it's been the best sunday ever. actually maybe just the best weekend ever.
ok, so i mostly just adore sundays.
(obviously that means it was the weekend before midterms and have done nothing even remotely academically productive. whoooops.)
(the flash on photobooth completely washed out this picture. whooops again.)
happy end of january!
(finally.)

boo boo

ms.becca boo and i have been having more dates than usual lately.
the best part? our lives are in the exact same place right now.
(literally. exactly the same.)
or maybe the fact that these events often results from a quick text followed by,
"how do you feel about right now?"
ahahahahahahaahahaha.
the extent to which i love this girl is a little out of control.
and maybe i kind of love her fam bam too.
besties since 2nd grade? you betcha.
shared a sled at recess, been friends ever since.
my red-haired, green-eyed irish girl.
the best is yet to come, you see.
the best is yet to be.

the one man band

a couple saturdays ago, sarah ann syphus and myself decided to get out of town. kind of. we took a little saturday morning trip to spanish fark where the harses eat carn. and fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine: going to one man band diner on main street in spanish fork! like, really. my whole life i've been driving past it and wanting to stop by. and at last we did. you should just know, it's just as cute as it sounds. an adorable small town diner. and there's even an old man who plays 'bus boy' of sorts cleaning up tables and going by and seeing if people need anything. and he whistles! hellooooo: the one man band! i adore it. adorable. and then we went and walked through an old book shop and antiques store. best saturday adventure ever. it's almost pathetic how much i enjoy getting out of provo when i can. it's just a nice break, you know? the pictures speak volumes of how charming a day it was.
(marina, you would have loooved all the elvis paraphernalia. seriously.)
the man himself!
so i guess i have a thing for antique mirrors and tea sets. who knew?

thanks for humoring my desires, sarah ann. you were a perfect date. :)

pizzas, dawgs, sticks, and vampires.

once upon a time laurs made a visit to provo on the saturday before her school started. those visits are the best. (it gets better.) her visit started with a trip to jdawgs, naturally. she's hooked i tell you. hooked! that's ok. probably because they're completely delicious.
we continued our afternoon by doing who knows what - you know, the usual and then we decided we were going to play the betty crocker game! this means we wanted to bake something. then came the decision process that led to baking off of pinterest. and theeennnnn we got really serious. lauren rose made her mom's delicious margerita pizza recipe, laurs and i made pizza factory breadsticks and delicious chocolate peanut butter cookies. delectable? oh, if you only knew. we mean serious business. so maybe we didn't have any bamboo skewers for the breadsticks. minor details. so instead we went without and got creative. [never fear, thanks to a sale at smith's a week later, i'm now the proud owner of 100 bamboo sticks for $2. best, right? so obviously i told laur this means she needs to come back and try making them the real way with me. that's the most logical thing, wouldn't you say? exactly.]
seriously, DELECTABLE.

after stuffing ourselves silly, we made a visit to my brudder's apartment to retrieve a hammer so that i could finally hang up the christmas gift she gave me! cutest. ever. so now i have a laursy corner in my apartment. the 2 places and a china ball left over from her wedding reception. best, right? right.
and on the way home, we maybe finally remembered to memorialize the shrub sciences laboratory that's across the street from my apartment. seriously. SHRUB. win. shrub a dub. shrubby. that's my soul sista. (type sista in a phone and you'll get shrub. cool, huh? and that is where the name is from.)

well guess what? not even a full week later, she cam back again! obviously, this is why i'm recording these memories. how often does that even happen?? exactly. almost never. and this time, marina came with her! two wertzies?? even better than one, duh! best day ever. so of course, it started with introducing marina to the beloved jdawgs. [can't say i didn't warn you.] followed by vampire diaries. mmmmmmm. and yeah, so maybe it was a shorter visit. but hey, i'm taking whatever i can get. always. :)
 first bite of a jdawgggggg!

we're hilarious. we're so aware.

love you shrub a dub dub!
playdate again soon, yeah?
of course, yeah.

romtelecom!

with the beginning of the new semester it meant two things. one, kylee is back in ptown! two, melissa just happened to come to visit utah on a certain weekend. thus, a reunion was planned entirely through my facebook status. sometimes i feel cool, obviously. in true romanian fashion, no one was on time, and the first to arrive was one of the missionaries. sora mullen (meghan). then michael. then elder wirthlin (steven). then melissa. then kylee. we had a grand old time reminiscing and chatting together, sad that not everyone could make it - obviously this means we need to have another reunion sometime. except melissa is going to CHINA. say wha? anyway. i really just love romania. and romania reunions. even if they are kind of awkward. we win at awkard, so i guess that's to be expected. being around each other in america is weird. but whatever. i still really just love these people. (sorry not everyone was there for the picture. obviously you can tell how much they've always loved that i take pictures - especially since i rarely even take pictures. but whatever guys. you all tend to steal my pictures anyway, so it's fine.) romania love foreeeeverrrr.

a week or so later was sora mullen's homecoming (she got back mid-december). she's the adorable and colorful one with long blonde hair. you know it's going to be good when her dad comes up to us and shakes our hand before the meeting asking who we are, and then saying, 'oh! you're the ones singing, right?' ahahaha. don't worry. he wasn't kidding. she had anyone who knew romanian (meaning the rm's) come and sing the musical number. but we went up too. we cool. her family is hilarious, welcoming, and loving. and a little bit crazy. no wonder meghan fits right in. baha. love it. so between a little reminiscing, a lot of laughing, some catching up among kylee, amanda, and me, and hearing romanian mission stories from the rm's, the day was deemed successful. i'd say so.

i just love romanian connections.
sometimes i sure do miss that place.

these are the days

guess what food items i currently have in my possession since eating my last apple an hour ago?

a little leftover rice / tortillas / part of a small block of cheese / eggs / a small remainder of cream cheese / 4 slices of bread / parmesan cheese / cereal, but no milk / bisquik mix / baking supplies=flour/sugar/brown sugar/baking powder/baking soda/canola oil / macaroni noodles / a small remainder of nutella / chocolate chips.

bring on the chocolate chip cookies (dough. let's be real), scrambled eggs, a few more slices of toast, and macaroni&parmesan.

good thing i basically live off of all of the above anyway. kind of.

you see, i'd go to the grocery store for all the things i don't have.
(you know, like milk, or fresh fruit, or bagels, or bread that's almost gone)
but it's the weirdest thing, they actually expect you to pay for the food there.
weird [and rude], huh?
good thing friday is payday, wouldn't you say?
being a poor, starving college student is da best.
time of my life, really.

this will never cease to induce a laugh attack. ever.

i kid you not, upon seeing this the first time, i laughed for 10 minutes. and then died.
every time i see it, i still laugh like crazy. i can't stop.
a little out of control? you betcha.

mr. & mrs. watson.

december 28, 2011
my lovely (former) roommate tianne stanley became tianne watson.
tom&tianne watson.
perfect, right?

the whole day was lovely, starting at the bountiful temple and ending at a lovely reception. tianne was princess for a day - everything was just perfect for her, and SO tianne. it was as smooth as can be. also, i've never seen a cultural hall look so classy. ever. the day was indeed a success, and now the newlywed watsons are living in north carolina as tom starts his 2nd semester at duke law and tianne has begun her student teaching! so exciting, right? congrats, mr.&mrs. watson! so very happy for you two. finaaalllyyyyyyyy. it's been a long time comin'. love=happiness.
the watson fam bamily.
the stanley fam bamily.
tianne has 2 younger brothers, tom has 2 younger sisters.
i never realized how perfect it is, until seeing this photo.
the friends and the siblings.
alli, me, matt stanley, sarah, tianne&tom, jeff stanley, catherine watson, brooke watson.
girls!
sarah, me, brooke, bride, alli, and catherine.
why are my eyes practically closed in every single picture? good one. i don't know either. dangitall.
following the temple, before the reception, was the wedding luncheon that we were ever so honored to be invited to attend. and it was held at a classy old elite country club. fancy schmancy. and i learned that i don't really like crême brulée. shame, isn't it? oh well. there are worse things in life, right? aha. either way. i think my favorite part, aside from how chill and relaxing it was, was the fact that tianne was in a sparkly pink dress. (obviously she wasn't about to try and eat in her wedding dress! don't be silly.) and if you know tianne, you know that this is SO her. to a T. T for Tianne. aha. cheese alert.
3 of our 6 living in pp10.
my wedding day buddy!
the one and only sarah ann syphus. love her. duh.
once upon a time, sarah and emily were put in charge of retrieving the cake(s) for the reception from a house up in layton! okayyy, surprise. there is serious pressure involved in putting two very fragile cakes in a car. it started with seeing 'welcome to syracuse' signs, followed by large fields that probably had cows nearby. that made us realize we had gone too far. obviously. and then once we had the cakes, they were wrapped in nothing. nothing, i tell you! in other words, i played chauffeur while sarah ann sat in the back seat with our dear lovers, lloyd and lyla. also known as the cakes. don't you fret, the cakes arrived alive and well with only a couple close calls and a little bit of extra time spent getting lost trying to find the church. whoopsay.
lyla's the bigger, more ostentaciously decorated one. lloyed is the easy-going smaller one with the bow(tie). we love them. we bonded.
go ahead and judge us all you want for naming the cakes. it made it so much more exciting. so whatever.
the day concluded with a cafe rio run (sarah and me), scarfing the cafe rio in the car before the reception, and then manning the gift table at the reception with sarah and alli. so great. good thing i knew hardly anyone who came, especially since unlike alli and sarah, i didn't even go to the same high school as them. oh well, i'm over it. i still had fun anyway. i love weddings. drinks all around!
father of the bride. mother of the groom.
first dance!

ultimately, the whole day was a success, and let's be honest. the most important part is the sealing itself that took place that morning. at the end of the night, the newlyweds left through a line of sparklers, and drove off to their happily ever after. also known as a forever long drive across the country.

i miss you, mrs.watson! i hope being married is all you ever dreamed and more!
lots of love and all the best to you and tommy!
