but my friends? they call me em.

hey there. you with the stars in your eyes.

my name is emily janette.

they say you can tell a lot about a person based on what they treasure.
a few things i adore:
[in no particular order. none whatsoever.]
sunbeams. sunflowers. dresses--especially when they spin. music of all genres--particularly when it reaches down and touches my soul. ukraine. ukrainian people and their sincerity. russian. romanian babies. lemonade. fresh flowers. lemon drops. sunshine. au natural days, which tend to be every day for me. romania. peaceful rainy days. europe. the smell of spring. brothers (thing 1 and thing 2). sisters in love (sherry and kenzer). naomi, my niece. mountains. the gospel. spring & fall. transitions. charming places and things. my mission and the lessons she taught--expected and unexpected. making a difference. france / french. you've got mail. perfect photos. my first+middle name together. utah's raw beauty. walking barefoot. messy, air-dried hair. my ancestry, and the people associated therewith. family. friends who are practically family--the sisters i never had. best friends. friends that make a difference without even realizing. and people, in general.
just to name a few.

in 2011, i spent the entire summer in a mostly unheard-of city in northeastern romania.
(otherwise known as iași.)
and because of that experience, i have been forever changed.
the people i met, my romanian kiddies, and the precious babes.
and of course all the hilarious experiences in between.
so please forgive me if it seems as though i never stop talking about it.
that opportunity means more to me than any other, and will always be cherished.
a treasure kept within my heart forever.

from midway through 2012 through all of 2013 i served a mission in ukraine.
donetsk, to be exact. though i spent most my time in kharkov.
another mostly unheard-of place in eastern europe.
(land that i love.)
there are no words to summarize such an experience,
so i won't even try.
suffice it to say, i am changed. my mission is me.
i became.

oh, and you should just know.
i kind of adore when people call me em or ems as i get to know them.
le tutoiement.
for that is the crossover from acquaintance to friend.

so, friends.
this is me.
i can be quite verbose.
i tend to tilt my head right as pictures are snapped.
i have endless quirks.
and yet, i think i'm really great.
and, if nothing else.
i promise always and forever to only ever be pure and genuine.
truly genuine. real.

love always,
em.
